Fishing for stories, for inspiration, for writing time, for dream time, for rest, for replenishment, for refilling the well.
Now, the fact is, I probably should have posted this much earlier but after such a busy season -- and a particularly busy spring with the Spring Festival of New Plays and then the Aboriginal Playwrights Circle in June -- I'd already found myself running so hard and fast that I literally had no time left to catch my breath and talk here about the amazing things that were going on during those festivals while they were happening.
Then, after leading the fun but rather intense Sage Hill Teen Writing Experience in the first week of July, I plunged straight into some much needed time away from my computer without a word here and for that I offer my apologies.
So rude to just drop off the map, right? Then again, in some ways, maybe it's okay to take some time to tune in and drop out -- just to remind ourselves that the world of non-stop communication really isn't and that it's a choice and that there's nothing actually stopping us from coming to a stop now and again.
Truth is, I'm still not quite ready to come back to that non-stop world of communication. I have every intention of remaining down below with the fish for a while yet, swimming my way through a slowly swaying world of dreams and free floating ideas. In fact, I've only just kicked my way back up to the surface for a breath of air and to say a quick hello before plunging in again.
So...hello. And goodbye (for now).
I still have every intention of writing about some of my experiences and discoveries at this year's Spring Festival and Aboriginal Playwrights Circle but those well-meaning intentions will simply have to wait a while.
For now, I simply want to wish you all a wonderful summer and wonderful fishing trips of your own.
